Nothing beats a hot cup of masala chai on a cool evening. With a good tea and a few kitchen spices, you can make tea-stall style chai at home in under 10 minutes.
Ingredients (2 cups)
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons Make In Agro Pure Chai
- 2 teaspoons sugar (or to taste)
- 2 green cardamom pods, crushed
- A small piece of fresh ginger, crushed
- Optional: 1 clove, a small piece of cinnamon, a pinch of black pepper
Method
- Boil the water with the ginger and spices for 1-2 minutes to release their flavour.
- Add the Pure Chai tea leaves and boil for 1 minute until the colour deepens.
- Pour in the milk and sugar and bring to a boil.
- Lower the heat and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes. This is the secret to rich, strong chai.
- Strain into cups and serve hot.
Tips for the best chai
- Use fresh ginger and freshly crushed cardamom for the best aroma.
- Pure Chai brews bold, so you need fewer leaves than ordinary tea.
- Let it rise and fall twice while boiling for a creamier taste.
Pair it with biscuits, pakoras or a handful of roasted cashews.
